Best of DIY Link Party Burlap Art

How to make art at home using thrift store frames and decorative historical tins.

I have a new project to share!  It actually started last fall when I made art with burlap, frames and book pages .  After the season had passed I removed the book pages but kept the burlap art because I knew it would come in handy again.

Here you can see what it looked like and the supplies that were used.

Now here is how I recycled that burlap art…

I bought this collectible tin this past summer at a Habitat Restore for a couple of dollars.  I love the history of it.  It is of Mount Vernon and has a scenery on both sides of the tin.  The beautiful house, Mount Vernon and the Potomac River view.

I loved it because I have actually toured Mount Vernon, everyone should, it is gorgeous and full of history.

I decided to hot glue the lids onto the burlap because I knew it would be sturdy yet would pop off if/when I ever want to change it.

  1. What an awesome repurposing idea Sonya! The tin tops were too pretty no use somehow and you had me at burlap 😉 but what I love most about your DIY is how they have a special meaning for you having toured there.

  2. Hi Sonya! Thank you for hosting this great link party! Glad I was able to join this evening! I gotta tell you, I will now be on the lookout for some great tins of my own. Such a creative idea! Take care! ~Michelle
