As many of you know I recently attended the BHG Stylemaker event in NYC. This invitation only event hosted by Better Homes and Gardens Magazine brings together trendsetters from around the country. The event gives food, home, beauty, and style bloggers the chance to connect with editors, guest speakers and contributors.

My husband made the trip with me because I don’t like to travel alone. We spent 4 days in New York City and he worked while I attended the event. We were able to have dinner together a couple of nights as well as dinner out with blogger friends. It was nice having him chat with others who do what I do.

I was honored and humbled to be among so many talented people and I knew that attending this event would be great for my blog and for you! That’s right, I wanted to go for you. I love to learn and be inspired by others. It allows me to gather new ideas to share with you here on the blog.

I’m terrible at selfies so I was thrilled when the photographer caught me taking this one with Heather of The Heathered Nest, Cassie of Hi Sugarplum!, and Aniko of Place Of My Taste.

We were learning how to use an online video app in this class. Ray and I are working on creating video’s for the blog, so if you have anything you would like to learn through video tutorials let me know.

One thing I loved taking note of was the experience and atmosphere. The way food was styled as well as taking in the atmosphere of the city. This gave me a great idea for some blog post. I love creating experiences for my family like I mentioned in this Instagram post here. Keep an eye out for these post coming soon to the blog.

Getting to meet and chat with Better Homes and Gardens Editor in chief, Stephen Orr and everyone’s favorite thrift store and table setting genius Eddie Ross were highlights of my trip. Then there are my people, the one’s who understand this crazy blogging world.

My biggest take away from this event was to love what I do and slow down and enjoy it. The love and passion I have for inspiring you to create the home you love is the reason I created this blog. I believe I will be so much better at this if I take time to enjoy the process and celebrate the little things.

I also came home with these amazing new books that you will want to grab for yourself.  (affiliate links)

Scandinavian Gatherings by Melissa Bahen (a wonderful new blogging friend!)

The Encyclopedia of Spices and Herbs by Padma Lakshmi (wonderful to hear her story)

In The Company of Women by Grace Bonney (blogging rock star creator of Design Sponge)
