Decoupage Vanity Table

Decoupage Vanity Furniture Piece

Today I am joining a talented group of bloggers for a themed furniture post.  The theme this month was decoupage and the only rule was that it must be a piece of furniture not an accessory.  This one took me a while to decide what to do.

Then BAM, it hit me!  DECOUPAGE VANITY TABLE for my daughters room.

The vanity started out solid black.  I bought a small sample of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Provence to add some color to it to coordinate her room.  I let my daughter decide how she wanted it painted and I let her paint it.  The only picture I have of her painting is on my cell phone and it is a little blurry.  Just keep in mind we did that part first.

Since this is where my daughter puts her makeup on and gets ready for the day I told her to find some quotes that she would like decoupaged on the vanity.  She found some good ones. Here she is writing them on the scrapbook paper I had for them.

Decoupage Vanity- Writing quotes

If you have never worked with Mod Podge you should! It’s glue and sealer in one.  You add it to the back of the paper to stick your paper down.

Then you brush it on top to seal.  Instead of waxing my chalk paint like I usually do I brushed the Mod Podge over the top of my entire vanity table.  It goes on white but dries clear.  I would recommend 2-3 coats.

Here you can see it’s still wet and looks white.

The quotes ranged from cute, funny and inspirational.  She even wrote out her favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 31:25.

  6. What a great idea! I love how your daughter really had a hand in painting and picking out the quotes. And Provence is one of my favorite Chalk Paint colors! 🙂

  7. Sonya this is adorable and I love the verse from Proverbs. I may have to steal this idea for my daughters vanity. It really added just the little touch you needed. 🙂

  8. Sonya, I love how your daughter was also involved in the planning and process of the vanity. That is also one of my favorite bible verses in Proverbs and I have it near my jewelry. I love seeing it every morning and I am sure your daughter will also enjoy all of the sweet positive quotes as she gets ready. Great project.
