Living Room Rug Update

Living Room Rug Update for a new look

For today’s quick tip Friday I’m talking about how one BIG item can change a room.

We have had the same rug in our living room for over 10 years.  It is a great rug but I have been wanting to update the style and color of the rug for this room.  I found one for my living room rug update that I love.

The colors and pattern are more on the trendy side but it was the look I was hoping for. This is the room we spend most of our time in, besides the kitchen of course.

We watch TV and many times some one ends up laying or sitting on the floor.  This rug is so soft and I enjoy walking on it with my bare feet.

The day I received my rug I could not wait to open it.  The rug I chose was the Marrakesh Shag Rug and it was and is currently 70% off!

The adorable braided tassels gives it that fun moroccan look.  Really…look how great they are.  Also they are not included in the size of the rug.  I ordered the 9×12 and the tassels actually extend the size about 6 inches on the ends.

I should go ahead and talk about the coffee table makeover that took place after I received my rug.

After my recent master bedroom makeover I had some left over Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Scandanavian Pink.  It is a gorgeous color with the grey rug.

BUT I need your opinion…do you like it with the brown leather?  I am torn.  My husband doesn’t love it, my daughter thinks it look good.  I really think I need a different color and style.  Maybe one of the metal one’s.  Let me know what you think.

I had some fabric options that I laid out that do look really good with the rug and the furniture.

Maybe some pillows on the sofa to pull it all together?!

For now though, my living room rug update with my Rugs USA rug is a great refresher to the style of this room.

  1. I LOVE the pink but not so much against the couch. Wish the couch was a dark gray or even dark brown but regardless your room looks absolutely wonderful! LOVE the rug!

  2. Love the color pallet of this room. The pink and navy go so well with the rug. Thanks for sharing with us at the Pretty Preppy Party this month. xx, b @ being-blanca.com

  3. I love the entire idea especially with the great selection of color. It fits with the theme of the living room. Thanks for the inspirations.

  4. I love the rug! I think you did a great job painting the coffee table but I would prefer it on black.

  5. Shannon that sounds like a neat idea. I love changing things for seasons! For spring and summer it would be fun. Then warm it up for fall!

  6. I love the rug!!!!
If you LOVE the coffee table, keep it. It’s a fun color, when you tire of it, flip for some brass and glass pretties that are so on-trend. I love the versatility of changing out the smaller stuff. It’ll be fun for Spring and Summer. Then make a flip for Fall 🙂

  7. It was white at fist and didn’t look good with the rug. I really think it’s the style of the coffee table. Thanks for the rug compliments. Have a great weekend!

  8. I went out on a limb with it for sure! Hubby loves it in the bedroom though. 😉 Thanks so much for your input, I think you are right, I’m on the lookout for a metal one. Happy Friday!

  9. Hi Sonya

I like the coffee table but think you are right maybe something in iron or in my living room I have a coffee table with kind of a rough finish tile top which I like with my dark brown leather couches. I couldn’t get away with anything with a pink tint in my house, my husband wouldn’t go for it at all…haha! I love the rug though it is really nice!

  10. Usually love your taste. Not loving the coffee table. Color is off and was the first thing I saw when you showed the room. An industrial chic piece would look perfect. Just too feminine for the room. Sorry for being brutally blunt. You asked!

  11. As soon as I saw the coffee table I let out a “Holy Cow Wow” The color is awesome and the pink and brown color combo was a big hit in the nineteen fifties and is still a favorite of mine. As for the rug, I just purchased a similar one, no fringe, in cream and navy, so its a keeper too. The room looks great.

  12. Hi 🙂 I love your new rug, it looks great and comfy too! I’m not 100% sure about the pink. Maybe white and then leave the drawers wood like they are? But it’s hard to tell from a few pics, I think if you love it, then keep it that way!
