One Room Challenge Shed Makeover Week 5

Hey there friends! Can you even believe it’s time for the One Room Challenge Shed Makeover Week 5 update already?

AND it’s May?

AND I’m the mom to a high senior who will graduate in 20 days?

Oh wait, that’s just me who finds that hard to believe. Ray decided I needed some distraction yesterday from the shed makeover and pulled out home movies from when Dylan was a baby and little boy. WOW, that should do me in for the entire month!

Dylan wrote this on his Facebook page this week, “Classes end in two weeks for me, never thought that senior year would start so slow and end so fast. It feels like it was just January!”

He has no idea how true this is for his mom and dad…It feels like first day of Kindergarten to us!

Ok, I’ll move on with the shed makeover. Maybe because it’s almost Mother’s Day I’m feeling so sentimental.

This week lots of awesome progress was made on the shed makeover. I told my Ray when I decided to join this challenge one day before it started, I wouldn’t need any assistance from him for this project except moving the furniture out. BUT because he is my hero and he loves me so, he ended up building a bench and a serving area. These were basic for him in the build department and I think he secretly likes to have his mark on a space too.

ORC Building Projects

Almost all of the painting is complete. Seriously this was the hardest thing I have ever painted. The paint kept soaking in to all of the plywood and if you have ever painted a ceiling then you totally understand how hard that is.

I also recovered an ottoman that I had saved. I had gotten rid of the matching chair last year and new the ottoman would come in handy.

What is left to do:

Sew pillows

Hang light over table

Art to the back wall behind the sofa

Hang Chalkboard

Make it pretty

Now I better get busy! The weather is suppose to be perfect the next few days so it will be nice working out there.

  1. It stays about the same temp as our garage would. I have used a portable propane heater in the winter and fans in the summer.

  2. I LOVE the look of the painted interior. I’m getting a shed for a sewing room. Does yours stay heated/cooled without being insulated?
    Thanks for sharing your shed!

  3. Lovely!!! I would love my hubby to get started on a she-shed for me… This may be a good starting point for him 🙂

  4. That white paint on the raw wood almost did me in, LOL! Elementary School is the longest, it goes fast from there.

  5. The shed looks so light and bright now! We ended up having to buy a new picnic table, and the ends of the wood are doing exactly what your walls did. It all gets soaked up, and ends up looking the same. High school seems so far away for us, since our oldest is just finishing first grade. Then again, the last seven years have gone by so quickly… Hang in there and enjoy the last couple of weeks!

  6. Sonya I can’t wait to see the ottoman and I can’t wait for the reveal! I love the direction the space is going in. As a fellow ORC participant it’s been wonderful to gather some fantastic inspiration. I’d love for you to share your progress at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Our readers would love to see it. The gathering is at https://www.decortoadore.net

  7. Great progress on your shed project! Hang in there mom!!!! Senior year appears to always be hardest on moms! My husband and son laughed at me all spring while I anticipated the departure of my oldest. Truly wish the time wouldn’t fly by so fast.

  8. Paint has totally transformed the space! Totally worth the effort. I can’t wait to see your finished shed!
