Upcycled Christmas Wreath

Upcylced Christmas Wreath for Rustic Lodge Decor athomewiththebarker.com

Hey there sweet friends…I know, I know, it’s been 2 weeks since I lasted posted. I didn’t plan on taking a blog break it just worked out that way. Funny thing though, I didn’t take a break from doing projects. So get ready, lots of new home decor/DIY post after Christmas.

Starting today though, it’s time for a little Christmas. I’m joining some sweet blogging friends for a Welcome Home Christmas Tour hosted by Robin from All Things Heart and Home. We are sharing how we welcome friends and family into our homes during the holiday season.

As with many things around my house, repurposing and reusing are at the top of that list. The same goes for this years Upcycled Christmas Wreath. Nothing says welcome to our home like a front door wreath. I wanted to make my Christmas decor to look great as always but without spending lots of money. All I bought this year was new gift wrap, ribbon for the tree and these little skis from Target. I wanted to go with a natural rustic lodge feeling and I think I have achieved it with this upcycled christmas wreath.

I loved last years wreath so much but I wanted to use the deer head ornaments on my tree. That left me with my basic green wreath, a plaid bow and some berries.

Here was my wreath last Christmas…

I posted it again recently on my Instagram and it was still a BIG hit. I found the white deer at Walmart last year. Although they had the deer this year they were gold or silver instead of white.

I grabbed a set of the skis from Target because they were too cute to pass up and they were only $3. They came with the small hooks on the back to hang them on the wall so that was perfect for me to tie twine to and attach to the wreath.

The plaid bow was made from a table cloth…YAY! See it here plus what else I made with it last year.

I can’t wait to show you how I painted a Christmas tree! YES, for real! In the mean time, If you’d like to be inspired check out Christmas Decorating 2014. I’m using everything I already have but in a different way this year.

  1. Love your recycled wreath! And I saw those skis, too! They were just too adorable to pass up – and for $3? Yep, bought a couple of them! Fun being on this tour together!!

  2. I love those skis, Sonya! I’m heading to the US next week and one of my stops is Target. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for those. Pinning your pretty wreath to my Holiday Decorating Board to share.

  3. Take all the time you need cause i love seeing what new things you have done. You need time with your family too.

  4. Pretty wreath, Sonya! I love those skis and might just have to drive across town to Target to see if any are left. I’m like you, I try to reuse my wreaths and make them over for a new look to save money.

  5. What a cute wreath!! I LOVE that you reused what you already had, but just tweaked it to update it. So welcoming on your front door!
