July Fourth Neighborhood Parade
I don’t know how it feels where you live but this week in the upstate of South Carolina it is SO hot! The humidity is the real killer. To top it off, my husband and I decided it was a great time to add new stairs to the deck as well as paint the shed/wood shop! Who does that, right?? If you have been following on Instagram you can see the behind the scenes photos. So while many people are on vacation we are getting lots of DIY projects done around our house.
We will take a break on Friday to celebrate Independence Day. Our July fourth neighborhood parade is a fun time for us. Mostly because there are so many little kids to watch!
There are some amazing moms in our neighborhood who do all the planning so I can’t take any credit for that. We join the fun by decorating our golf cart with red, white, and blue!
Lots of flags, streamers and balloons! As it turns out, our golf cart color is perfect for this event!
Many do ride golf carts but there are many who walk with their dogs. Anything is fair game, 4 wheelers and bikes too!
If you look closely at the front of the parade we even have a nice neighbor who is the grand marshal and walks carrying the flag!
After the parade through the neighborhood it ends in a swim at the pool.
You don’t have to live in a subdivision to have a parade. When our kids were younger we had a driveway parade with all of their cousins. It was just as much fun as a neighborhood walk.
The point of the day is to celebrate the freedoms that we have here in the USA! To be with family and friends, to laugh, to sing and to eat! AND by eat I mean eat LOTS!
We will be having a cookout with burgers and strawberry shortcake, YUM!
Have a great independence day,
