Snow Day {and a little sanding}

Here in South Carolina, we love a snow day!

So you can only imagine what happens when we get 4!!

We sled and slide on whatever we can find, we eat lots, have sleep overs and go out wearing all kinds of crazy gear and sometimes our Pajamas because we just can’t wait to walk in the snow.

BUT first, we always get a pretty picture of our home!

It really was a beautiful scenery around here! My daughter was really happy to get out in her Hunter Boots she got for Christmas. I might have worn mine too!

Snow Day in the street 2014

I had to get a picture of the kids, aka teens, watching it snow! They were so in awe that it had snowed for 3 days in a row!

This little guy here loves extreme weather! If it just drizzles rain, he doesn’t want to go out but if it’s a lightening storm then he is running around like a mad man.  The snow was definitely extreme…he LOVED it!  He was in out of the house more than the kids.

We really did have a great week but like most people in the south, we love snow just as much when it is all melted away!

Now, one week later from the above pictures, this was happening…

Snow Day a week later 2014

I had my kitchen table on the deck in 73 degree weather sanding it! Really…seriously…last week over a foot of snow, this week 73 degrees!  I have been anxious to do this project but since I was going to be sanding and staining I needed it to take place outside.  The dust and fumes are too strong for inside.  I completed the sanding and staining and it is airing out in the garage!  I will have a full reveal on the blog tomorrow, so be sure to stop back in to see!  You can head over to view my kitchen tour to see the table before!

What’s the weather like where you are?  Still snowing or feeling like Spring?

  1. We have had the weirdest winter weather ever! I live in the Upstate near Greenville. I was once in Boston in the Spring and all the dirty snow on the sides of the streets was still there!

  2. Where do you live in SC that you received a foot of snow? How unusual; we still have frozen snow piled up from a month ago that hasn’t melted and it’s so ugly when it gets so dirty. Beautiful when it is coming down though. We had 14 in. one time, the last was only 5 in. and the one before the 14 in. I forgot what that was. All has melted in the yards except the frozen piles that the snow plow or BobCat piled there over a month ago. We need a good rain to wash it away.

  3. We must live near each other as mine was mostly the same as yours. Right now the back door is open to the screen porch and the doggies think it’s pretty cool. I live in Atlanta

  4. SO glad to have you!! I do enjoy our mostly 4 seasons. I have been reading about your drought, sounds like we are all experiencing crazy weather.

  5. Hi Sonya,
    Just found your website through Pinterest. Your house is beautiful and I love your ideas. About the weather: How about it’s been hot! I live in sunny Southern California and we are experiencing a drought. Would love some of your snow.
