Summer Travel
After the 6 weeks of the kitchen makeover ALL I can think about is vacation and how much I need one! Do you already have summer travel plans? Do you go different places from year to year or does your family have a tradition of going to the same destination every year?
We do a little of both. Every summer we take a trip to Garden City Beach in South Carolina. It’s not a place with white sand and clear blue water but we love it. Ray and I both grew up going to the SC coast for family vacations and we love carrying that tradition over to our children.
Our son has brought his 2 best friends for a couple of years now on our beach trip and this year we are taking 5 extra teens for a total of 7! We do rent a beach house so it will be loads of fun!
Garden City Beach, SC
Every other year we try to add in an additional trip to some where we have never been before or head back to some where we really love. Last summer we headed west to California and visited Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Malibu, Anaheim (Disneyland) and New Port Beach. We loved it! Ok, I did not love LA because that traffic is out of control but the view from Griffith Observatory at night is amazing!

The Georgian Hotel
The Georgian Hotel is in on the coast in Santa Monica and it is gorgeous! You feel like you have stepped back in time to real luxury. Excellent service and staff as well as beautiful rooms.
A trip to Charleston, SC is a great place for summer travel. If you plan to visit you should read about our walking tour.
We also love New York! We have been a couple of times with our kids.
Instead of summer travel there are some years we take a winter trip skiing. Breckenridge, Co and Snowshoe, W. Va are both beautiful.

The last of may i am taking a trip to Yellowstone,Tetons,and Mount Rushmore. I think it will be fun,i got tired of tring to wait for kids and grandkids to have time off to go somewhere so it is just me, with a group of people.
I admit…I’m a bit jealous right about now!
Garden City Beach is one of the best vacation spots for families! Of course, I am slightly partial……live here right on the Inlet in Garden City Beach. In fact, I am in my home office at this very moment, looking right out to the Inlet…..tide is out and therefore lots of oyster beds in site. And, since it is Bike Week, I am definitely working in my home office today! Hope you and your family have an awesome vacation!
