DIY Wooden Gift Tags
This post is sponsored by DecoArt. They supply the paint, I supply the 100% honest opinions!
I love easy craft projects that make a big impact yet take little time. These DIY Wooden Gift Tags were just that! Especially since tomorrow on the blog I will be sharing my full Christmas house tour. Be sure to come back.
I stopped at my local Michaels Craft Store to pick up these wooded oval plaques. They also have different shape options if you prefer.
Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint is also available at Michaels in the wood and finishes aisle. There will be a giveaway for a paint prize pack at the end of the post. Be sure to enter.
The two colors that I used for my DIY Wooden Gift Tags are (black) Carbon and (red) Romance. If you are looking for a black or red most true in color, these are your choices. They were perfect.
I really do like this paint. It covers very well. I have used it on many projects. You should check out my Grain Sack Bench Makeover, TV Tray Makeover, or my Painted Basket.
I covered the plaques in the Romance “red” chalky finish paint first. I applied 2 coats to cover all of the wood grain. This paint does dry quickly so not much waiting time.
Next I used the Carbon “black” chalky paint for some details. I used a q-tip to apply dots and lines.
I don’t think I would add these to every gift because once I start stacking my presents they would get covered BUT I will add them to some special ones. The wooden gift tags added a nice touch of embellishment to basic ribbon.
Visit the DecoArt Chalky Finish website for more chalk paint ideas and inspiration.
