Show and Tell Saturday #1 from Sonya of At Home with The Barkers. Random fun talks, things I bought, and interesting finds.

Remember in Kindergarten those days of Show and Tell?

Show and tell at my school was always on Friday. I loved this day so much. It was a fun way to see parts of other kids home life and what they did there.

Did you have show and tell when you were a kid?

Fun fact: Show and tell sets the stage for children to become comfortable when speaking in public. After all, show and tell helps students with planning their presentation, public speaking, using different types of vocabulary and descriptive language, and fielding questions from their classmates.

I’ve decided to bring show and tell here to the blog every Saturday. It feels like a good way to have some fun.

It will be filled with lots of different and random things. A way to show and tell you stuff that wouldn’t make up a complete blog post. Anything goes.

Today is Show and Tell Saturday day one and I am giddy over it.

Show and Tell time

  • gray hair
  • cute dress, transitioning to fall
  • empty nest years and decluttering
  • what we are watching
  • thoughts on fall decorating

I haven’t had my hair colored since October 2020 so there are lots of gray hair. I like it. Feels good to just be natural. Being a dark blonde I don’t feel like my hair is as gray as I thought it was going to be.

BUT it is a lot when the sun hits it. LOL What do you think? Have you stopped coloring your hair?

One thing I wasn’t expecting was how certain clothing colors look different on me. I tend to stick to more olive green than anything so I am hoping I can keep pulling it off. It’s my favorite color.

Speaking of clothes…I hate clothes shopping in stores. Online has been my friend over the past year. I need some new things. I’ve paired my closet way, way down.

I mostly have work out clothes and jeans. I did buy this dress in two colors and it will look cute for fall with a denim jacket or a sweater.

This photo was taken a month ago in Charleston. Our son, Dylan lives there. We were there to help him move into a new apartment.

This dress is comfy and great for hiding those trouble spots.

I’m planning to check out the sales at Old Navy online. They have been my go to spot this year. My favorite jeans are on sale plus additional 25% off.

You can now sort photos at Old Navy based on size and they show the model wearing it!! AMAZINGLY helpful.

I have my eye on:

Empty Nesting…

As empty nesters we have found most of our time lately consists of lots of decluttering.

While we like to keep a neat and tidy house, we have/had spaces where we just put anything that we didn’t want to deal with.

NO MORE! We are digging in to those spaces. I share behind the scenes of this stuff on my Instagram stories.

We do not want anything in our home that we don’t love, use or need. I love talking about decluttering with others. I find it interesting how people have such a hard time getting rid of things.

What we are watching:

Ray and I love finding good shows/series to watch on TV. Our current favorite is Ted Lasso. It’s funny and good hearted. Highly recommend.

Recently on the blog:

Started talking about fall decor and how my view of decorating is different than lots of others. No matter what you prefer, you do what you love.

I hope you enjoyed this first edition of my new show and tell series. Anything you have a question about just email me or comment here. Your question just might get answered in a future post.

  1. Love the blog and show and tell.Your hair is looking fabulous . I went natural 12 years ago never looked back very liberating . People ask if it’s balayage I said no just oldageage. It’s all about comfort for clothes who are we trying to impress ?? Also empty nesters here and living a downsized retired lifestyle. That could be a blog on to itself . Keep up the great work ❤️

  2. I love the show and tell! Your hair looks great, I am really struggling, I don’t want to keep coloring but I just can’t commit to the gray yet….
